Batsman Asif Ali, who led Pakistan to victory with his superb batting during the T20 World Cup, won the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Player of the Month award for October.
According to the ICC website, Laura Delaney of Ireland won the title in the women's category.
"Asif Ali won the award by defeating Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh and David Visa of Namibia," the report said.
"On the women's side, Ireland's Laura Delaney knocked out teammate Gabby Lewis and Zimbabwe's Marie Anne Mossonda," the ICC said in a statement.
Pakistan's aggressive batsman Asif Ali scored 52 not out in the T20 World Cup for Pakistan in October with a strike rate of 273.68.
The report said that Asif Ali scored 27 runs off 12 balls in the match against New Zealand and played an important role in the victory of the team.
In the match against Afghanistan, Pakistan needed 24 runs in the last two overs to win and Asif Ali hit four sixes in the 19th over.
Praising Asif Ali, Irfan Pathan, a member of the ICC Voting Academy, said:
"Even though they have scored less overall than the other two nominees, the part they have contributed and the pressure they have taken away the victory is the most unique," he said.
Sports journalist Zainab Abbas responded on Twitter saying that congratulations to Asif Ali on being declared the ICC Player of the Month and he deserves it.
