China refuses to participate in India-hosted talks on Afghanistan

A few days after Pakistan refused to participate in the regional security talks on Afghanistan hosted by India, China also refused to participate.

According to the AFP news agency, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenben blamed the schedule for the talks, saying it was difficult for Beijing to participate in the talks.

"We have already given our answer to India," he said during a routine briefing.

According to India Today, India will host the Delhi Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan on November 10, which will be chaired by Indian National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval.

According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the high-level talks will review the current security situation in Afghanistan and steps taken to assist the people in promoting peace, stability and prosperity.

Seven countries have confirmed their participation in the talks, including Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, the report said.

It may be recalled that earlier this month, Pakistan had refused to participate in the talks hosted by India.

National Security Adviser Dr. Moeed Yousaf told a news conference that "I am not going, a spoiler cannot be a pacemaker."

He lamented the silence of the international community on India's state terrorism and human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and New Delhi's expansionist plan in the region.

Asked about the obstacles facing Pakistan in achieving peace and development in the region, he said, "I think the obstacles in the region are in front of you and there is no need to discuss them."

He said that as far as India's attitude and ideology was concerned, it had not changed, without which peace in the region could not move forward.

"Unfortunately the world has closed its eyes and does not talk as much about India as it should," he said.

Moeed Yousuf had said that peace and stability in Afghanistan is very important for Pakistan and disagreement with Afghanistan is not in Pakistan's interest.
