A 22-year-old girl who was cured of brain cancer today is trapped in the body of an 8-year-old boy.
Shona Ray was diagnosed with brain cancer shortly after birth. When he started chemotherapy six months later, his major pituitary gland, which releases growth hormone, stopped working. But Shona did not give up and is still full of joy and enthusiasm.
"People think I'm a little girl, but I'm a 22-year-old girl and my body is 8 years old," says Shona. Even though my growth has stopped, I want people to consider me an adult and give me freedom.
She once went to a bar where staff refused to recognize her as 22 years old and kept asking her for an ID card. Shona says that any boy who meets her can be someone like her. "Sometimes they are approached by men who are of the very wrong kind," she said.
Although chemotherapy severely affects the endocrine and hormonal systems, smallpox has been severely affected. Now they are facing many difficulties everywhere. People think of her as a child and treat her like a child.
