The divorced woman allegedly threw acid on her ex-husband and seriously injured him.
A man named Muhammad Usman was brought to Civil Hospital Burns Ward from a flat in a residential building near Nagan Chowrangi on Thursday evening. His face, hands and other parts of his body were burnt with acid.
Mohammad Usman's relatives said that at 3 pm on Thursday, Mohammad Usman was called by unknown persons on a mobile phone to a flat near Nagan Chowrangi where his ex-wife Shabana was also present.
Relatives said that Muhammad Usman had divorced Shabana 9 months ago but Shabana was insisting on remarrying. According to the relatives, Muhammad Usman refused and Shabana threw acid on her face.
Shabana also sustained minor injuries due to acid spray while Mohammad Usman got out of the flat and reached his grandmother's house in a rickshaw. From there, relatives shifted Mohammad Usman to Civil Hospital where medical aid is being provided.
Relatives said that Shabana reached New Karachi police station immediately after the incident on Thursday and she counter-accused her ex-husband Muhammad Usman that my ex-husband had tried to throw acid on her.
SHO Nadeem Ahmed said that during the preliminary investigation and looking at the condition of Muhammad Usman, it appears that the woman had thrown acid on her husband and was also trying to mislead the police but the police were investigating the incident.
According to SHOK, Mohammad Usman's condition was not good and the police could not take his statement. After his statement, legal action will be taken. Police have also interrogated the woman.
Police said that Mazroob Usman had married Shabana of his choice and used to work in the same office.
