Pompeo urges Saudi Arabia to establish ties with Israel

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has urged Saudi Arabia to recognize Israel, which would make it easier for other Gulf states to establish relations with Israel.

"Our common goal is peace and security in the region," Pompeo said after meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, according to AFP.

Last month, Bahrain signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates at the White House to establish relations with Israel, and it consults with Saudi Arabia on its foreign policy issues.

Mike Pompeo quoted Saudi Arabia as saying that "they are the cause of the changing situation in the region and these countries understand the need to curb Iran's influence and the need for regional cooperation."

"We hope that Saudi Arabia will also consider establishing relations. We want to thank Ibrahim for his efforts so far to make the agreement (UAE and Bahrain agreement with Israel) a success," he said. ۔

US President Donald Trump hails Arab-Israeli relations as a success ahead of the November 3 presidential election.

Trump said last month that he expected Saudi Arabia to recognize Israel "at the right time."

Gulf states have common interests with Trump because of his tough stance against Iran.

"The United States supports a comprehensive arms sales program to Saudi Arabia, which will protect civilians and maintain American employment," Pompeo said.

An investigation was launched into the controversial US Secretary of State's controversial move to sell ڈالر 8 billion worth of weapons to Saudi Arabia over a dispute with Iran without congressional approval.

His party did worse than expected from opinion polls, which saw them at gaining about two thirds of the support for Saudi Arabia's crackdown on Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Pompeo had announced that 26 acres of land had been acquired for the construction of a new embassy in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

He said the United States was spending more than ارب 1 billion on diplomatic missions for its mission in Jeddah and Dhahran.

It may be recalled that on August 13, US President Donald Trump, while announcing the peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), said that the two countries have agreed to establish bilateral relations and Bahrain has also joined the UAE. Following in his footsteps, he announced the establishment of diplomatic relations with Israel.

Calling it a historic day, the US president said that Israel and Bahrain were establishing genuine diplomatic and trade relations.

He told reporters at the White House that they would exchange embassies and diplomats, launch direct flights between the two countries and cooperate in various fields, including education, health, business, technology, security and agriculture. Will start.

The "peace agreement" between the UAE and Israel stated that the agreement would restore diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to the agreement, Israel will postpone its plan for unilateral annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank.

Later on September 16, at the White House hosted by US President Donald Trump, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed a landmark agreement to establish relations with Israel.

Trump was accompanied by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdul Latif al-Zayani.

Before the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, Egypt re-established relations with Israel in 1979 and Jordan in 1994.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said during a ceremony at the White House that five to six more countries would join us soon, but he did not name those countries.
