Another Dalit woman, considered India's lower caste, died after being gang-raped.
A 22-year-old girl belonging to the 'untouchable' Dalit community was allegedly gang-raped by two men on Tuesday, according to police in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, according to foreign news agencies.
The incident came a few months after four people were hanged on a billboard for gang-raping and killing a female student on a Delhi bus.
The case came as a sign of the country's problem of sexual violence.
Police said that both the persons have been arrested in the recent case and a case of gang rape and murder has been registered against them.

The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Balarampur district, 500 km from where another Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by four upper-caste men in mid-September.
India's 200 million Dalits have long suffered discrimination and abuse, and campaigners say attacks on coronavirus epidemics have increased.
According to the latest figures released by the National Crime Records Bureau on Tuesday, an average of 87 cases were reported per day last year, but a large number are not reported.
The bureau reports a more than 7% increase in crimes against women in 2019 compared to last year.
Police enforced emergency rules in an Indian village
Meanwhile, Indian police enforced emergency rules in the village where the rape and murder of a Dalit girl came to light.
More than five people have been banned from gathering in the area after clashes erupted after the girl's last rites were performed.
