Iran has denied Saudi Arabia's allegations that Tehran trained terrorist cells.
According to foreign news agencies, Saudi Arabia had alleged yesterday that Riyadh had arrested 10 people earlier this month and recovered weapons and explosives from a terrorist cell trained by Iran's Revolutionary Guards. Was
However, Saudi security officials did not say where the raid or arrest took place.
State security said authorities in the Presidency foiled a terrorist cell whose terrorists had received military and field training in making explosives from Revolutionary Guards guards in Iran.
"The investigation has uncovered two sites (locations) for identifying terrorists, weapons and explosives," a statement issued on state media said.
The seized items included an improvised explosive device (IED), dozens of stun guns, ammunition and a variety of rifles and pistols, the statement said.
In addition, three of the 10 detainees were trained in Iran.
"Authorities have launched an investigation into all the detainees to get more information about their activities and those associated with them in the state and abroad," the statement said.
Iran's foreign ministry called Saudi Arabia's allegations "completely fabricated."
Spokesman Saeed Khatibzada said in a statement that "the Saudi rulers have abandoned their political understanding and have now chosen to lie against Iran in order to divert the attention of world public opinion and cover up their failed efforts."
It should be noted that relations between Riyadh and Tehran have been strained for many years.
Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties with Tehran in 2016 after protesters attacked the Iranian embassy when a Shiite cleric was hanged in Riyadh.
Tensions also rose last year over attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf, which Washington has blamed on Tehran and Iran, which has denied any involvement.
