Ban on immoral dramas

Actress Atiqa Odho is not happy with the ban imposed by PEMRA on dramas showing immoral content. Repeated broadcasts of "Sadqa" and "Eshqiya" were banned.

While the producers and directors of the drama did not comment on PEMRA's decision, actress Atiqa Odho, who played a key role in the drama serial "Pyar Ke Sadqa", is not happy with PEMRA's decision.

Yesterday, he posted a lengthy post on Instagram in which he criticized PEMRA's decision to ban dramas, saying, "Is PEMRA really? Is this a democratic way of life? Dramas presented important social issues that needed to be addressed. Content shown in dramas helps people to be aware of mental health, social injustice, hypocrisy and abuse of power.

If we do not clean up these issues and discuss them, we as a nation will never move towards positive change. Stop treating viewers as if they are stupid and not in the rest of the world. Atiqa Odho suggested to PEMRA that PEMRA would have to formulate policies to raise social awareness through dramas. At the end of his post, he satirized the PTI government, saying, "Change, change, change, justice, justice, justice."

Really #Pemra? Is this the democratic way of life? Do we muzzle voices that help reflect changes needed in our society? Television drama brings up important social problems which need correction. It helps educate people about mental health, social injustices, hypocrisy, abuse, misuse of power, etc, etc etc. If we start to brush things under the carpet and not bring them out for discussion, we will never grow as a nation towards positive change. Stop treating viewers as if they are dumb and don't have exposure to the rest of the world! #Pemra should be making policies to create more social awareness through Pakistani drama and not reducing content to falsefied garbage. Tabdili Tabdili Tabdili !!!!!! Insaf Insaf Insaf !!!!!!!!
