Unique world record for the Pakistani-born sunflower family in the UK

In a British-born family in the British city of Coventry, parents as well as their six children are sunflowers, making it the world record for the largest number of sunflower siblings.

According to Guinness World Records, Pakistan-born Aslam Pervez and Shamim Akhtar are both sunflowers who migrated to the UK years ago.

His six children namely Naseem Akhtar, Ghulam Ali, Haider Ali, Muqaddas Bibi, Musarat Begum and Muhammad Rafi were also born here.

It should be noted that sunflower or 'albinism' is an inherited condition in which the natural substance 'melanin' which gives a specific color to the skin, hair and eyelids is affected. As a result, the affected person's face and hair may appear congenitally white, while the color of the eyes may vary considerably.

All these siblings were ridiculed from their childhood for being their sunflowers even though they did not have many friends.

Growing up, he realized that not only he but millions of other people were also sunflowers, so he started working as a volunteer in al-Benzim awareness organizations in his hometown.

Some time ago, his eldest sister Naseem Akhtar came up with the idea of applying for Guinness World Records for her bizarre family.

Fortunately, they soon received a reply, and Guinness World Records correspondents confirmed that they were the largest family of sunflower siblings.

Today all these siblings are married but none of their children are sunflowers.
