The Covid 19 vaccine 'Corby wax' developed by American experts has been approved in India. It is the world's first coronavirus vaccine that does not require a license for mass production.
That is, it could be called the first "open source" vaccine because any country, without a license, could develop it on a large scale, using its own limited resources.
In addition to being open source, it is also the world's least expensive corona vaccine. It is estimated that in case of mass production, it will cost only 1.5 (approximately PKR 270) per dose.
Corby Wax has been jointly developed by scientists at the Baylor College of Medicine in the United States and Texas Children's Hospital, whose medical trials have been successfully completed in India.
The full course of this vaccine consists of two doses with an interval of less than one month between the two doses.
Trials have shown that the vaccine is up to 90% effective against early variants of the corona virus and up to 80% against the delta variant.
It can be easily stored in a normal refrigerator and is also very easy to transport.
Hyderabad Deccan's "Biological E" Limited has also started mass production of this vaccine where 150 million doses of it have been prepared. The company says it can produce 100 million doses of the new vaccine each month.
It should be noted that despite repeated requests from the World Health Organization and other international human rights organizations, all corona vaccine companies have kept their technology and the production cost of the Covid 19 vaccine secret, and at high prices.
It is also estimated that Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are being sold to European countries at a rate of 24 per dose.
On the other hand, the global free vaccine program for poor countries, Kovacs, had set a target of 2 billion doses this year, but today, as of December 31, 2021, it has received less than one billion doses of the corona vaccine.
In this context, the availability of low cost and open source Covid 19 vaccines is being hailed as the most significant development and it is hoped that by 2022 the entire human population of the world will be vaccinated against corona.
Corbyn vaccine experts have transferred the technology to India, Bangladesh and Botswana after India, and commercial production of the vaccine will soon be launched in those countries as well.
