Israel agrees to buy state-of-the-art helicopters and refueling aircraft from US

Israel has signed defense deals worth more than 3 billion with the United States, which will allow Tel Aviv to acquire CH-53 helicopters and two Boeing K-46s.

According to the foreign news agency Reuters, the Israeli Ministry of Defense confirmed that the defense agreement with the United States is worth 3.1 billion.

The ministry said in a statement that the agreement would increase Israel's air force capabilities and include the option to purchase six additional helicopters.

According to the statement, the helicopters will reach Israel in 2026. Chief of Materials, Brigadier General Shimon Sunsiper, said that refueling aircraft would not be available before 2025.

He said Israel was trying to advance C-46 shipments and eventually wanted four of them.

Israeli media have expressed hope that air-to-air refueling planes could prove important for a long-range air strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.

General Simon Sensiper said the Air Force's current refueling capacity is sufficient for its mission.
