Indian cricketers accused of preferring IPL over national team

Former India captain Kapil Dev has accused the players of the Indian team, which is out of the T20 World Cup, of giving preference to the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the country.

According to the AFP news agency, the Indian team is playing its last match in the T20 World Cup today against Namibia, but regardless of victory or defeat in this match, the Indian team is out of the T20 World Cup and the semi-final race. Is out of

Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets in the first match and then in the next match New Zealand also defeated the Indian team by 8 wickets making it very difficult to reach the next stage of the event.

India needed Afghanistan's help to reach the next stage, but New Zealand defeated the Afghan team to make it to the semi-finals and turned India's hopes upside down.

India's exit from the World Cup has drawn the ire of the public and former cricketers, as well as severe criticism.

Critics include Kapil Dev, captain of the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian team, who accused the players of favoring the Indian Premier League over the Indian team.

Talking to Indian TV ABB News, Kapil Dev said that when the players prefer to play for the country instead of the Indian Premier League, then what can I say, I believe that every player of the country should be proud to play for.

"Our priority should be to play for the Indian team and then franchise cricket or other things," he said.

The Indian team reunited after graduating from the Indian Premier League just two days before the World Cup warm-up matches, and the holding of the IPL before the event is being cited as one of the reasons for India's poor performance.

"I am not saying you should not play for franchises but now it is the responsibility of the BCCI to better plan future cricket tournaments," said the 62-year-old former Indian captain.

"The only thing we can learn from this defeat is not to repeat these mistakes, that is the biggest lesson," he said.

After these defeats in India, there is a demand to include new and young boys in the T20 team.

The Times of India Daily wrote that preparations for next year's World Cup in Australia should start now.

Apart from appointing Rohit Sharma as the new captain, the paper also proposed to include youngsters like Raturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Herschel Patel and Deepak Chahar in the team.

It may be recalled that even before the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli had announced his resignation from the leadership of India's T20 team.
