Elizabeth II, the 95-year-old Queen of Great Britain, has apologized for taking the Older of the Year award.
According to the Associated Press (AP), the Queen apologized for receiving the Oldie of the Year award from a leading British magazine and said that she did not meet the criteria for the award.
Queen Elizabeth II was invited to receive the annual award from The Old Magazine, asking for her opinion on whether she would accept the award.
The magazine's management wrote a letter to the Queen in late July this year, to which she replied in August 2021.
The Queen thanked the management for accepting the award from the magazine and wrote in her reply that she did not consider herself worthy of the 'Older of the Year' award.
The Queen's secretary replied that Elizabeth II said that every human being is as old as he or she feels, so she thinks she is the 'Older of the Year'. Do not meet the award criteria.
Old Magazine published a reply from the Queen on October 19, calling the Queen's denial the most historic and best response.
It is to be noted that Oldie Magazine has been giving this award every year to the senior citizens who have rendered outstanding services for almost three decades.
The award is usually given to important personalities up to the age of 90, but the award has also been given to people below that age.
The Queen's husband, Prince Phillips, was also awarded the Oldy of the Year award by the magazine nine years ago on his 90th birthday, and the Prince gladly accepted the award.
In addition, the award has been given to several European and American personalities, including the United Kingdom, and this year, after the Queen's refusal, the 'Older of the Year' award was given to 90-year-old French-American actress Leslie Karen.
