New York: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has demanded more steps from the OIC for a lasting solution to the Occupied Kashmir and said that it should play an active role in exposing Indian atrocities against the world.
Addressing a meeting of the OIC Contact Group for Jammu and Kashmir in New York, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that since August 5, 2019, 8 million Kashmiris have been facing the worst sieges, arbitrary arrests and extraordinary restrictions.
He said that the Indian occupying forces were carrying out indescribable atrocities by resorting to black laws to suppress the voice of the oppressed Kashmiris against this coercive tyranny while the Hindutva and RSS-minded BJP government had given special status to the Kashmiris. Occupied Jammu and Kashmir seeks to change the demographic ratio to eradicate.
He said that in addition to this, the Indian government has issued 3.2 million fake domicile certificates by amending the domicile laws to achieve its nefarious aims.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the latest example of Indian atrocities was the worst treatment meted out to the body of Syed Ali Gilani, a senior Kashmiri leader who died on September 1 during a long period of Indian detention.
He said that at a time when Syed Ali Gilani's family was mourning his death and was busy preparing for his funeral prayers, the Indian occupying forces forced their way into the house and snatched his body. Nor was his funeral prayer allowed according to Islamic traditions, nor was he allowed to be buried in the 'Martyrs' Cemetery' according to his will. The Foreign Minister said that the Indian government was so terrified of Syed Ali Gilani's behavior that it treated him inhumanely even after his death.
He said that in order to draw the attention of the international community to the grave human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir, the government of Pakistan has issued a dossier based on solid evidence and a 131-page dossier on Indian occupying forces. 3,432 war crimes have been handed over by senior officers of the Taliban.
He urged the OIC Secretary General to distribute the dossier to all members of the organization and distribute it widely.
He further said that the dream of peace in South Asia could not be embarrassing unless the Kashmir issue was resolved in a just manner in accordance with the aspirations of the UN Security Council and Kashmiris.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi assured that Pakistan was ready to hold talks with India to resolve the Kashmir issue but for that India would have to create an environment conducive and withdraw unilateral and illegal measures of August 5, 2019.
He said that the Kashmir and Palestine issue has been on the agenda of the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for a long time. Jammu and Kashmir has rendered invaluable services in drawing international attention to the grave human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir.
The Foreign Minister said that today unarmed Kashmiris are looking towards the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Muslim Ummah, so all members should fully support us in raising the Kashmir issue in all UN forums, including the General Assembly and the Human Rights Council.
