Sleep disorders double the risk of sudden death, research shows

American medical experts have discovered that people who have frequent sleep disturbances have almost twice the risk of sudden death due to heart and vein problems or any other reason than those who sleep peacefully.

The study is actually a meta-analysis conducted by experts in Pennsylvania, USA, and details have been published online in a recent issue of BMJ Open Respiratory Research.

In this comprehensive analysis, they reviewed 22 research studies conducted in previous years in which more than 42,000 people aged 62 years participated.

The analysis revealed that people who complained that their sleep was interrupted from time to time due to which they do not feel drowsy even after hours of sleep, due to other reasons besides vein and heart related diseases. The sudden death rate was significantly higher than those who slept soundly for several hours straight.

The higher the rate of sleep deprivation, the higher the overall rate of sudden death. There is a strong link between sleep deprivation and sudden death.

Among those most affected by sleep, the risk of sudden death for any reason was almost double.

Experts say that although at this time we have largely understood the relationship between sleep disorders and various diseases, we still do not know many details of this process. Therefore, this research needs to be taken further so that this problem can be solved.
