Hashmat Ghani Ahmadzai, the brother of fugitive Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, has joined hands with the Taliban.
According to Shamshad News, Hashmat Ghani Ahmadzai met with Taliban leader Khalil-ur-Rehman Haqqani and announced his support for the Taliban. He is the first member of the Ghani family to support the Taliban.
It may be recalled that President Ashraf Ghani had fled the country with his children on August 15 when the Taliban arrived in Kabul. He appeared a few days later in the United Arab Emirates and said in a video message that he would return to Afghanistan. His brother Hashmat Ghani Ahmadzai was in Kabul when Ashraf Ghani fled the country.
