SHANGHAI: A 14-year-old boy from the city of Manshan in the eastern Chinese province of Anshui has accused his father of forcing him to do housework in violation of child labor laws.
The details of the incident, which went viral on Chinese social media a few days ago, state that the 14-year-old from Manshan was always busy with his smartphone, which prevented him from doing any household chores. I focused on my studies.
When the boy did not stop persuading his elders, his father ordered him to set aside his smartphone and help with household chores.
The boy became so angry at the order that he escaped from his father and went to the nearest police station and complained against his own father for taking "illegal and forced labor from the child".
The officer on duty did not understand and took the boy back to his home to get an accurate picture of the situation.
When the officer reached home, he spoke to the boy's father and found out about the incident. On this, the police officer at first forbade the father of the child to be more strict and said that the idea of taking the phone from the child for a while was very appropriate.
The boy could not bear it and said rudely: "What do you think?" Is this the only mobile phone I have? You are a Buddhist! "
No further incidents were reported on Chinese social media, but the majority of the public called the boy disobedient and objected to his parents saying they should have explained it to him before the child went bad.
If the child is rude and complains to his or her own father at the police station, it also involves the parents' own negligence.
