Israel has opened its embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) state of Abu Dhabi. It is the first Israeli embassy in any Gulf country.
When the Israeli Prime Minister arrived at Abu Dhabi Airport to inaugurate the embassy, he was warmly welcomed by the UAE authorities. He will also inaugurate the Consulate General and meet his counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.
It should be noted that relations between the UAE and Israel were restored in September last year and in January this year, Israel formally approved the opening of its embassy in the UAE, while the UAE also opened its embassy in Tel Aviv. The embassy was approved to open.
