The Ministry of Petroleum has announced emergency arrangements during the closure of the Engro LNG terminal.
According to the Ministry of Petroleum, the supply of LNG will be reduced during the repair of the terminal. The government has allowed the gas companies to do load management during the gas shortage. Priority will be given to the domestic, commercial, power and export sectors, meanwhile the supply of 600 million cubic feet of gas per day from the other terminal will continue. Supply from both the terminals will be restored from July 4.
According to the Ministry of Petroleum, initially 824 million cubic feet of gas will be supplied daily, from July 5, full gas supply will be restored from Engro terminal, LNG supply from both terminals will be 1.15 billion cubic feet per day. Gas will not be supplied to industries, fertilizer, CNG and cement sectors during gas shortage, power generation will be done on furnace oil and diesel during gas shortage.
According to the Ministry of Petroleum, PSO has been directed to increase the supply of furnace oil. PSO has issued tenders for additional requirement of furnace oil and diesel.
