The first eunuch from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was elected as a jirga member.
According to a statement issued by Peshawar Police, Sobia Khan, an eunuch from Peshawar, has been elected a member of all DRCs in Peshawar.
Eunuch Sobia said during the discussion that it is a good step for the police department to make me a member to resolve the problems and disputes of the eunuch community. I will raise my voice for the trans community everywhere.
Sobia Khan will act as a 'bridge' between eunuchs and the police. Sobia Khan works for the social rights of eunuchs, so she has been selected to play a key role as a DRC member between the police and eunuchs.
He has not been recruited by the police and no decision has been taken on his salary or monthly allowance. The purpose of the deployment at the DRC Center in Peshawar is to allay the concerns of eunuchs.
Police officials say that if the plan to facilitate eunuchs in DRCs in Peshawar is successful, it will be extended to the entire province. The Peshawar Police's assignment of responsibilities in the DRCs of eunuchs is aimed at making police services easier and more respectable.
Sobia Khan is a resident of Gulberg area of Peshawar. Eunuchs are generally not accepted by the society even by their parents. But fortunately, they are among the eunuchs who are accepted by their parents. And she lives with them.
"I was always supported by my parents," Sobia Khan told the media. I live with my parents. I am a proud daughter to my parents and my life's purpose is to work for the rights of the eunuch community.
Eunuch Sobia Khan said that I will make sure that I play my role for the betterment of my community and provide facilities to them in every possible way. I want to address the concerns and concerns of eunuchs who have direct concerns with the police. In addition, I will play an important role in resolving various issues and disputes in my community.
Talking to Express, SSP Peshawar Yasir Afridi said that it is our responsibility to provide protection to eunuchs. Peshawar police have already solved their problems on priority basis, they have their own rights. A police desk for minority communities, women and eunuchs will soon be set up so that their voices and concerns can be heard and resolved through a one-stop shop.
