Turkey has rejected US demands that the Turkish military remain in Libya until the Libyan government approves it.
According to a foreign news agency, Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalنn confirmed the Turkish government's decision in an interview with the media.
In this regard, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the international community has called for the withdrawal of all foreign troops from Libya and Turkey is preparing to send new Syrian mercenaries to Libya.
The presence of thousands of Turkish troops in Libya has sparked debate over the success of the country's interim government during the UN-led transition process in Libya.
Experts warn that foreign intervention could disrupt UN support missions in Libya.
Seth Frantzmann, executive director of the Middle East Center for Reporting and Analysis, says Turkey benefits from its role in Libya, which could affect tensions and the outcome of a possible political settlement.
"Turkey has violated the arms embargo by sending drones and weapons to Libya," he told Arab News. The question now is whether there is a political solution because of Turkey.
Under the Libyan Ceasefire Agreement reached on October 23 last year, the mercenaries and foreign forces in Libya were to withdraw within three months.
However, Turkey says the Turkish military is providing military training to supporters of Libya's interim government, the Government of National Accord.
Therefore, Turkey has refused to withdraw its troops despite the deadline. About 1,300 Lebanese troops have recently completed training in Turkey.
It should be noted that addressing the members of the Justice and Development Party yesterday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had said that Turkey was being pressured to withdraw its troops from Negrono Karabakh and Libya. Azerbaijan has won its occupied territories 30 years after Armenia.
He said that Turkey wants Azerbaijan to take control of these areas and Turkish troops will not return from Karabakh until Azerbaijan takes full control of these areas.
