Former US President Donald Trump's national security adviser says Trump wanted to assassinate Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, but was stopped short by saying the move would be considered war.
According to international media, referring to a documentary produced with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), McFarland, a former adviser to former US President Donald Trump, has said that in 2017, he plotted to assassinate Bashar al-Assad. Talked
McFarland, who serves as national security adviser in the United States, said President Trump had called for him to be ousted after seeing images of a sarin gas attack on civilians.
"I told President Trump you can't do that, and he asked why, so I replied that it would be a war move," the adviser said.
In April 2017, President Bashar al-Assad's government launched a gas attack in the western Syrian town of Khan Sheikhun, killing 90 people, according to media reports.
