The American woman converted to Islam after being inspired by the Ertugrul drama

 
The 60-year-old American woman converted to Islam after being inspired by the world-famous Turkish drama "Derelish Ertugrul", which is being translated into Urdu in Pakistan under the name "Ertugrul Ghazi".

According to the Turkish news agency Anadolu, a 60-year-old woman from the US state of Wisconsin has changed her name to Khadija after converting to Islam.

He told the Anadolu Agency that while browsing Netflix, he came to know about 'Dirlish Ertugrul'.

"I started watching dramas to find out the details," she said.

He added that after watching a few episodes, he became really interested in Islam.

"It was a history I knew nothing about," said the American woman, referring to the Ertugrul drama.

He emphasized that in the play, the Sufi saint Mohi-ud-Din Ibn al-Arabi gave new meaning to his life.

The woman said that Ibn al-Arabi's words made her think a lot and sometimes she cried.

According to the American woman, she has watched all the episodes of 'Derelish Ertugrul' 4 times and now she has started watching the drama for the fifth time.

He said that the series played a major role in his acquaintance with Islam.

"I love learning new history, this series opened my eyes to what I know about religion and I tried to learn more about it," she added.

He said that his curiosity about history kept him attached to the series and after watching the series, he came to know about Islam.

She belonged to the Christian Catholic religion and all the questions in her mind were solved and her interest in Islam increased.

The woman said she read the Qur'an in English to learn more about Islam, as well as the journey to becoming a Muslim.

He said that after searching for a nearby mosque in the area, he found a mosque and went there. He said that the people there were surprised to see him.

"I became a Muslim that day," he said.

The woman said she faced an unexpected reaction from her friends when she said she had converted to Islam and her name was Khadija.

"I don't talk to people about it, I don't interfere with their beliefs, so they shouldn't have any reason to interfere with me," he added.

The woman has six children and her children saw her watching a Turkish drama and her youngest son thought she had become a Muslim.

It should be noted that the story of the Derelish Ertugrul drama dates back to before the establishment of the Ottoman Empire in the 13th century and the main story of this drama revolves around a brave Muslim general named Ertugrul, also known as Ertugrul Ghazi.

The play shows how in the 13th century the Turkish general Ertugrul bravely fought the Mongols, the Crusaders and the oppressors and maintained his winning streak.

Ertugrul Ghazi depicts Ertugrul's pre-Ottoman rule, bravery and love. The play has a total of 179 episodes.
