Tensions are running high in Myanmar after a woman protesting against the overthrow of a democratic government and a military coup was shot dead.
According to international media reports, the authorities opened fire to disperse the protesters against the military coup in Myanmar, as a result of which a woman was killed.
According to the report, 20-year-old Mia Toye Toye Cain, who was protesting in the capital against the military coup, was shot and injured on February 9, after which she was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Doctors tried to save the young woman's life but failed and Mia Toye Toye Cain succumbed to her injuries the day before.
While the people are outraged over the death of the woman, the family appealed to the people to take to the streets and join the protests and continue this process till the army leaves power.
Talking to international media representatives, the victim's sister said that now the people have to take to the streets. He said thousands of people, including his sister, had joined the February 1 protest against the military leadership.
In Yangon, the country's largest city, people lit candles and placed flowers in front of the picture to pay tribute to Mia Tue Tue Cain.
One of the demonstrators said that Myanmar is mourning, now the citizens should start the struggle for the survival of democracy and the killing of women and take to the streets.
Earlier this month, Myanmar's military overthrew the democratic government by arresting key political leaders, including the leader of the ruling party, and declared martial law.
