The US Congress has passed the Malala Yousafzai Scholarship Act. The number of scholarships for Pakistani women will increase after the US Senate approves the bill.
According to the US Congress website, the bill directs USAID to take all possible steps to provide 50% scholarships to Pakistani women under the program. The US House of Representatives passed the bill in March 2020. The bill has now been approved by the Senate.
Under US rules and regulations, the bill will become law once it is signed by President Donald Trump.
Malala Yousafzai hails from Swat, Pakistan. She graduated from Oxford University in the United Kingdom. Malala Yousafzai was selected for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. He was only 17 at the time.
