The federal government has replaced Inspector General of Police (IG) Muhammad Amir Zulfiqar with Qazi Jamil as the new IG.
According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman, a Grade 20 Police Service of Pakistan officer working under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), has been transferred and posted as IG Islamabad.
It may be recalled that Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman was posted as DIG Hazara and now a new IG Islamabad has been posted.
Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman hails from Haripur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and has previously been stationed in Peshawar.
Earlier on January 2, 22-year-old Osama Satti was shot dead by Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) police personnel in the federal capital Islamabad, prompting questions over police performance and protests by citizens. Was also done.
