Dozens more killed in Ethiopia massacre

Massacres continue in Ethiopia, with the latest attack killing at least 80 people, including minors and women.

According to the National Human Rights Commission, more than 80 people, including women and children under the age of two, have been killed in the latest massacre.

Haroon Masho, a spokesman for the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and a senior adviser, told Al Jazeera that the massacre took place between 5 and 7 a.m. Tuesday in the Beni Shingle Gomez area, adjacent to Sudan and South Sudan.

"We have received reports that more than 80 people between the ages of 2 and 45 have been killed," the spokesman said in a telephone call from the capital, Addis Ababa.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and no immediate details have been released.

"We can confirm that the authorities have not yet arrested the perpetrators of the attack," said Mashoo.

It should be noted that 207 people were killed in an attack on December 23, 2020 alone.
