A Turkish court has sentenced controversial preacher Adnan Oktar Harun Yahya to 1,075 years in prison.
Turkish News Agency quoted court sources as saying that Adnan Oktar was sentenced by a court to more than 1,000 years in prison for 10 separate crimes.
According to the report, a court in Istanbul registered cases against 236 accused, of whom 78 are on remand for organized crime.
The court sentenced 64-year-old Adnan Oqtar to 1,075 years and 3 months in prison for criminal conspiracy, spying on politicians and the military, aiding and abetting him despite not being a member of the terrorist organization (FETO), sexual abuse of minors and sexual assault. He was convicted of 10 offenses, including exploitation, violation of personal liberty, violence, and intimidation.
Adnan Oqtar, a controversial preacher and owner of a TV channel, was arrested in 2018 along with 200 others on charges of sexual exploitation and kidnapping of minors.
Oqtar's channel broadcast his program in such a way that he was surrounded by women, whom he called kittens.
The court sentenced another executive member of Adnan Oktar's organization to 211 years in prison for sexually abusing a minor, misusing property and tampering with an official document.
The court sentenced another member of the organization, Oktar Babuna, to 186 years in prison for other crimes, including being part of a criminal organization and abusing minors.
An Istanbul court has also ruled against Adnan Oktar's other associates.
