Turkish Deputy Chief of Staff General Selقuk Berktar Oglu and Pakistan's Secretary of Defense Lieutenant General (retd) Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain represented their respective countries at the meeting.
The two countries discussed issues related to joint co-operation in military training, education, counter-terrorism and enhancing co-operation between the defense industries. Turkey and Pakistan also considered joint production and purchase of defense weapons.
The current situation in the region, including the Middle East, South Asia and Afghanistan, was discussed at a high-level meeting of the two countries' armies.
The meeting decided to further strengthen military cooperation between the two countries. On this occasion, the implementation of the decisions of the High Level Military Dialogue held in Pakistan in April last year was reviewed.
A high-level military dialogue group has been set up to liaise between the two countries' forces. The group develops policy and action plans to promote cooperation between the two countries' armies and investment in the defense sector. The next meeting of the group will be held in 2021 in Pakistan.
Pakistan's Home Secretary Lt. Gen. (retd) Hilal Hussain also had a separate meeting with Turkish Defense Minister Halusi Akar. The Pakistani delegation also met with Chief of Turkish Defense Staff Yasir Geller, Head of Presidency of Turkish Defense Industries Prof. Dr. Ismail Damir, Chief Executive Officer of Turkish Aerospace Industries Dr. Jamil Kotal.
The Pakistani delegation also visited Turkish defense companies Baker, Assel Sian, Hewelsen and Turkish Aerospace Industries.
