Reliance Jio is once again going to make voice calls absolutely free. From January 1, 2021, Geo subscribers will be able to make free voice calls from their phones. The Internet Usage Charge (IUC - Interconnect usage charge) on such services has ended. Reliance Jio has informed Jumrat about this. The company said in a statement that its commitment to make off-net domestic calls absolutely free would be respected. Domestic voice calls will be free once IUC charges expire. Following the announcement, Jio users will no longer have to pay for calls to any network from the new year. This facility will be available for any area across the country. Currently, IUC facility allows customers to pay for off-net voice calls. Explain that in September 2019, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) extended the IUC for mobile to mobile calls till January 2020. Geo then started charging its customers for off-net voice calls. However, the charge received by Jio was the same as the IUC charge.
The company also clarified that on-net domestic calls are also absolutely free on Geo Network. "The company is committed to bringing the benefits of advanced technology like VoLTE to ordinary Indian citizens," the company said.
Ryan's Geo added more than 2.2 million subscribers in October. Since then, the company's total number of subscribers has crossed 40.63 crore. Geo has the highest number of 2,45,912 subscribers in the wireless segment. Since then, Indian Airtel has connected 48,397 customers through fixed-line connections.
