Pakistan and Uzbekistan have reached an agreement on export cargo trains. The train will connect Pakistan to Uzbekistan via Afghanistan.
Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has signed a cargo train agreement between the two countries. The project will cost $ 4.8 billion. The project is called the Trans-Afghan Railway Line Project. Pakistan has appealed to international financial institutions to provide funding for the project.
The cargo train will carry commercial goods from Pakistan's Peshawar Province to Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and other Central Asian states.
The Peshawar-bound cargo train will enter Uzbekistan via the Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif.
Uzbek Minister of Transport Makhamov al-Kham signed the agreement. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has already signed the agreement.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said he would visit Uzbekistan next month, where an agreement to boost trade between the two countries had been finalized. The visit will also mark agreements on joint investment in the energy sector, tourism, and enhancing people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
