Turkish banks made a net profit of 57.3 billion Turkish lira in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year. Compared to the previous financial year, the profit of the banking sector has increased by 23%. In the 11 months of 2019, banks had earned a profit of 46.55 billion Turkish lira.
The value of bank assets increased by 35% to 6,120 billion Turkish lira. The value of bank loans increased by 40% to 3,630 billion Turkish lira.
Bank accounts increased by 42% in one year, rising to 3,480 billion Turkish lira in November 2020.
The rate of non-performing loans (non-performing loans) of banks has gone up to 4%. A year ago, non-performing loans accounted for 5.23% of total loans.
There are currently 51 local, private, and foreign banks operating in Turkey. There are 240,000 employees in the banking sector, bringing the total number of branches of Turkish banks in Turkey and abroad to 11,435.
