President Recep Tayyab Erdogan's spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said that EU membership is a strategic priority for Turkey. Europe should also look at relations with Turkey from an important point of view.
He said that the leaders of the European Union should put aside ideological and political likes and dislikes and discuss important issues with Turkey.
During his visit to Brussels, Abraham Colin met with EU Council President Charles Mitchell's Foreign Policy Chief Mary van den Howell, European Commission President Arsula von der Leyen and EU Secretary General for Foreign Affairs Helga Schmidt.
Turkey-EU relations, East Mediterranean, Libya, Syria and Karabakh issues were discussed in the meetings.
Abraham Colin's visit was aimed at raising Turkey's position ahead of the EU summit in December. The EU summit will take place in Brussels on December 10-11.
Ibrahim Kalin said that the atmosphere of mutual trust between the EU and Turkey needs to be improved so that the relations between Europe and Turkey can be further strengthened and strengthened in the future. He called on European leaders to find a lasting solution to the Cyprus conflict and said that Turkey was ready to discuss the issue with Greece.
He said that Turkey will continue to work on concrete steps for peace and stability in the region.
Abraham Colin said that the solution to regional issues is the responsibility of the European Union and the best way to do that is through negotiations. Turkey is ready for talks at all times for a lasting solution to all issues and disputes.
He said that Turkey-EU relations would not allow any one country to be held hostage. Turkey is a power in the region and the goal of peace and stability can only be achieved through dialogue.
