According to sources, the PCB has decided to appoint a new captain of the Test team in place of Azhar Ali. Azhar Ali is being removed from the captaincy and the name of the new captain has also been finalized.
Sources said that Babar Azam will be the captain of the Test cricket team for the tour of New Zealand and in this regard the PCB will make an announcement on November 11 regarding the Test captain.
Wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan will be the vice-captain of the Test cricket team. After the announcement of the captaincy, the squad for the tour of New Zealand will be announced.
News had been circulating for a few days that Azhar Ali would be removed from the captaincy of Test cricket and Babar Azam would be appointed as the captain of all three formats.
Former speedster Shoaib Akhtar had also advised Azhar Ali to resign from the captaincy and focus only on his batting.
