With Pakistan and Iran agreeing to strengthen mutual cooperation, Iran has announced the opening of another border crossing to boost trade with Pakistan.
The announcement was made by Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif during his visit to Islamabad. Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif led a delegation of political and economic experts to Pakistan on a two-day visit. He also called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
It may be recalled that this was the fourth visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Pakistan in almost two and a half years since the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came to power. The Foreign Office said that the visit was part of a normal high-level discussion between the two countries. And it aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and better understand each other's perspectives on regional issues.
Jawad Zarif told Pakistani leaders that the Ramdan crossing point would be opened next week, which is about 130 km from the port of Chah-e-Bihar in his province of Sistan and Baluchestan. The border will also open gabbd crossing points to boost trade.
The Ramdan border crossing is thought to be suitable for the export and import of fruits, livestock, construction materials and petroleum products. Jawad Zarif urged Pakistan to open the Pishin-Mand crossing at the same time. In addition, Prime Minister Imran Khan during a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister said that mutual cooperation, especially trade. And economic cooperation will be mutually beneficial.
