Gilgit-Baltistan elections, election fair will be held today, preparations are complete

 

Election for Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly will be held today (Sunday).

PTI, PML-N and PPP launched a full-fledged election campaign for the Gilgit-Baltistan elections. This is the first time that mainstream parties have campaigned so hard here.

There are 24 seats in 10 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan but elections will be held on 23 seats today. Election will not be held in GBA III due to death of PTI candidate Jaffar Shah.

745,361 voters will exercise their franchise in Gilgit-Baltistan elections. Of these, 382,997 are male voters and 321,075 are female voters.

Full security arrangements have also been made for the elections. 8,006 police personnel will be on duty in 10 districts. Of these, 2506 personnel are from Gilgit-Baltistan while 3,000 officers and personnel have been called from Punjab, 2,000 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 500 from Sindh and 200 from Balochistan. 965 GB Scouts, 1700 Rangers and 1100 FC personnel will also assist the police in the election process.
