A Mumbai court has ordered the release of comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harish Lambachaya on bail.
Bharti Singh and her husband were arrested two days ago by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) after confessing to drug use during an investigation into drug seizures during a house raid.
Before the court, the NCB said that 86.05 grams of narcotics were recovered from the house of Bharti Singh and her husband's production house.
According to media reports, despite such small quantities of drugs being recovered, the NCA appealed to the court to detain Bharti Singh and Harish Lambachaya for questioning.
The court rejected the NCB's application in the case of possession or use of small quantities and remanded them in judicial custody and today issued release orders on their bail.
According to Bharti Singh and her husband's lawyer Ayaz Khan, we applied for early release today on bail while the NCB officer and public prosecutor were absent, after which the court granted our application at 2 pm Granted release.
Earlier, the NCB had alleged that Bharti Singh had confessed to buying drugs through her husband.
The NCB has already said that Bharti Singh's house and her husband's production house were raided when the name of Bharti Singh came to light through drug dealers.
The NCB has been investigating drug use in Bollywood since actor Sushant Singh's alleged suicide in June.
