World rankings: Tennis kim Novak Djokovic leads, Nadal second

Tennis star Novak Djokovic of Serbia has once again proved his mettle, retaining the number one spot in the world rankings, despite losing in the final of the French Open.

Despite losing the title match to Spain's Rafael Nadal in the French Open final, Serbia's Novak Djokovic remains at number one in the world rankings, while 13-time title winner Nadal is at number two.

Djokovic, 33, has 11,740 points in the world rankings and gained 480 points to reach the final of the French Open. This was Djokovic's second defeat this year and his dream of winning his 18th Grand Slam was shattered by a clash with Nadal.

Rafael Nadal, who won his 13th title with his 100th victory on the clay court of Rolland Giro, equaled the world record of Roger Federer of Switzerland's 20 Grand Slam titles and reached the second position in the rankings.

Despite defending the title this time around as a defending champion, Nadal did not get any points. The distance between Djokovic and Nadal has now reached 1890.

Austria's Dominic Thiam is third in the world rankings and Roger Federer, who is out of the tournament, is fourth.

Greece's Stefanos Staspas, who lost to Djokovic in the semi-finals, moved up one place to fifth, while Argentina's Diego Schwartzman, who lost to Nadal in the semi-finals, moved into the top-10. Schwartzman jumped six places to eighth.
