Ten years later, medical health professionals are leaving Pakistan for Kuwait.
The 226 health professionals who left for Kuwait on Thursday, October 22, include doctors, paramedics and nurses.
A second contingent of 200 medical health professionals will also leave for Kuwait soon.
In this regard, a function was also organized at the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis which was addressed by Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and Nasr Abdul Rehman J. Al-Mutair, Ambassador of Kuwait to Pakistan.
In his address, Special Assistant Zulfi Bukhari said that Pakistan is fully committed to the development of Kuwait and will provide skilled manpower in various fields, which is linked to its Vision 2035.
"The resumption of manpower exports to Kuwait was a historic moment for Pakistan as no workers have been sent to the Gulf countries in the last 10 years," he said.
He said that in the recent past, several countries had expressed interest in hiring Pakistani manpower. Kuwait plans to hire more than a thousand Pakistani health professionals. These include doctors, paramedics and nurses.
The first consignment, which will leave on Thursday, includes 226 medical professionals, followed by 200 more health professionals.
Zulfi Bukhari said, "We have asked the healthcare professionals to fulfill their responsibilities and act as ambassadors of the country and pave the way for the export of more manpower."
"You will be the one to pave the way for other Pakistanis seeking employment in Kuwait," he said.
"We want to enhance our relationship with Kuwait in all areas, especially those associated with its Vision 2035," he said.
"Before the corona virus epidemic, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had sent about one million Pakistanis abroad after looking for a large number of job opportunities in different countries," the special assistant said.
Kuwait's Ambassador to Pakistan Nasr Abdul Rahman J. Al-Mutair also addressed the gathering and said, "We thank Pakistan for providing medical assistance to Kuwait during the difficult times of the Corona virus."
The Kuwaiti Ambassador assured that full facilities would be provided to Pakistani workers during their stay in Kuwait. You are going to your own country. I am sure you will be a great help to the Kuwaiti brothers and sisters. "
A question and answer session was also held for the departing health professionals on the occasion in which their questions and concerns were informed in detail.
