Two vehicles used by unelected cabinet members


The Upper House Senate of Istanbul has been told that there are two government vehicles used by several unelected members of the federal cabinet, including bullet-proof vehicles.

In the last three years, more than Rs. 85 million has been spent on fuel, maintenance and repairs for these vehicles.

Details of the vehicles were presented to the ministers, advisers and special assistants in the Senate in a written reply from the Cabinet Division.

According to the details, the ministers, advisers and special assistants have vehicles ranging from 1800 cc to 4600 cc.

The 2017 model 4608 cc is a bullet proof vehicle used by the Chairman Senate and the Speaker National Assembly.

Interior Adviser Mirza Shehzad Akbar and Special Assistant Zulfi Bukhari have been provided two vehicles, one 1800 cc and one bullet proof 4608 cc.

There are also two vehicles used by Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, one 1800 cc and one 4608 cc bullet proof vehicle. Federal Minister Ali Zaidi and Home Secretary also have a 4600 cc bullet proof vehicle.

Muhammad Mian Soomro, Shabbir Ali and Ali Muhammad Khan have one 1800 cc and one double cabin.

Federal Ministers Pervez Khattak, Shehryar Afridi, Ejaz Shah, Asad Umar, Murad Saeed, Shafqat Mahmood, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Umar Ayub, Razzaq Dawood and Dr Faisal Sultan also have 1800 cc vehicles.

Zartaj Gul, Faisal Wada, Babar Awan, Ghulam Sarwar, Shehzad Arbab, Sahibzada Mahmood Sultan, Eid Yusuf, Fawad Chaudhry, Fakhr Imam, Hamad Azhar, Shehzad Qasim also have 1800 cc vehicles.

Nadeem Afzal Chan, Shahbaz Gul, Asim Saleem Bajwa, Shah Mehmood Qureshi have also been given a vehicle of 1800 cc each. Dr. Waqar Masood, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Khusro Bakhtiar, Zubeida Jalal, Ali Amir Gandapur, Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Dr. Sania Nishtar, Aminul Haq, Tabish Gohar have 1800 cc vehicle.

The Cabinet Division also said that 43 new vehicles have been procured in the last three years for security and protocol purposes. According to the Cabinet Division, ministers and advisers have spent Rs 46.8 million on fuel for their vehicles in the last three years.

In the last three years, ministers and advisers have spent Rs 38.8 million on repairing their vehicles.
