The boy, who has been missing since July 14, 2015, was found at the Children's Welfare Center in Assam's Golpara district, Additional Director General of Police Swati Lakra told media. After failing to find the boy's heirs, Golpara police sent him to the Children's Welfare Center on July 23, 2015.
He said that the Telangana police had used a face recognition tool "Darpan" to match the missing pictures of children found in various child homes across the country.
Telangana police immediately informed the concerned station of Handia police station Allahabad which immediately informed the parents of the missing child, after which they reached the Children's Welfare Center and identified their child.
The Telangana State Police played a major role in reuniting the missing child with his parents five years later, the police official said.
