The JUI came to the fore after spreading false news about Maulana Fazlur Rehman's assets

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) has approached PEMRA for taking action against TV channels for spreading false news about assets against party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

According to private TV, the leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami, Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Shahida Akhtar Ali and Mufti Abrar Ahmed approached PEMRA for taking action against TV channels for spreading false news about assets against party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. A formal written request has been made to PEMRA by the JUI leaders. The text of the request states that all the news broadcasts regarding the assets of Maulana Fazlur Rehman are baseless. Not releasing, broadcasting false news about assets is not only unconstitutional and illegal but also against PEMRA rules. Provide evidence of misrepresentation of assets. Action should be taken against the non-providing institutions in accordance with PEMRA rules.

Earlier, the JUI had also issued legal notices to the owners of TV channels for running false news about Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
