India: Muslim leaders express regret over Babri Masjid decision
Muslim leaders and organizations in India have expressed regret over the acquittal of all 32 accused by a special court in the Babri Masjid martyrdom case.
According to media reports, the president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-e-Muslimeen, Asaduddin Owaisi, has declared the day of the verdict as a black day.
He said the decision had taught people a lesson that they could achieve their goals through violence.
Zafaryab Jilani, spokesman for the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, said the board was not satisfied with the decision, which was against both the evidence and the law.
He said the Muslim Personal Law Board would approach the High Court against the decision.
Leading religious scholar Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahalli said that Muslim leaders would sit down and decide on the next course of action.
