The banned TTP is active again

The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NCTA) has issued a threat alert for planning attacks by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

NICTA says the banned TTP, along with other terrorist organizations, could carry out attacks in Quetta and Peshawar. They can target political and religious figures. Terrorists are trying to assassinate a high profile political figure through a bomb blast or suicide attack.

The alert said that on October 21, 8 IEDs were recovered from Qamar Din Karez area of Balochistan which were prepared for Quetta and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

NICTA has suggested that the security of political and religious gatherings needs to be beefed up in the face of the threat of attacks, as well as strict surveillance.
