Saudi Arabia is considering a plan to end the foreign employee sponsorship system. According to a foreign news agency, the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources will introduce another system in which there is a direct agreement between the employer and the employee.
The agreement is aimed at improving relations between migrant workers and employers. According to reports, the new system will be implemented in the first six of 2021, which will benefit millions of foreign workers.
Keep in mind that the total population of Saudi Arabia is 34.8 million and there are more than 10 million foreigners.
Under the current sponsorship system in Saudi Arabia, Saudi citizens sponsor foreigners coming to their country for employment, which is called sponsorship. In return for sponsoring, Saudi citizens have to provide a certain amount of money.
Explaining the news of the abolition of the sponsorship system, the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources said that several formulas were being considered.
Ministry spokesman Nasir al-Hazani said on Twitter that "the Ministry of Manpower is working on various formulas to regulate the labor market." The spokesman said: "As soon as any formula is approved in this regard, it will be announced.
