The officer on deputation from the Air Force to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was PIA Chief Executive Arshad Malik as Special Assistant.
An Air Force officer was removed from the PIA post last year after allegations of sexual harassment surfaced, but the PIA said it had found no concrete evidence of the allegations.
Senator Sherry Rehman, a member of the Standing Committee on Aviation, told the committee that the female PIA officer was sexually harassed for her transfer from Karachi to Islamabad and also for the transfer letter when she was transferred. They were harassed.
On Tuesday, Senator Sherry Rehman presented her case to the inquiry committee, which was asked to dismiss the former special assistant from the PIA and send him back to the Air Force, and to take formal action.
Senator Sherry Rehman narrated the WhatsApp conversation between the woman and the officer during the committee meeting and said that she did not want to repeat such a conversation in a private meeting.
Senator Sherry Rehman said that because of her, fingers are being pointed at an institution like the Air Force.
During the meeting, Senator Noman Wazir disagreed with the committee's proposal and said that a detailed inquiry should be carried out in this regard. The messages being conveyed here have been taken in the wrong context.
"Other issues will be in place, but the conversation proves that the PIA officer sexually harassed the woman," Rehman told WhatsApp.
Amir Altaf, PIA's Chief Human Resource (HR) Manager, said during the meeting that the committee should investigate the matter further and not just decide on the WhatsApp conversation.
"The woman also told me that if such and such an officer is made the district manager, I will withdraw my case," he said at the meeting.
Explaining the allegations against him, the officer present at the meeting said, "I don't have this conversation in front of me so I can't talk about it." There was also a woman present at the committee meeting who complained of harassment. Was accused.
The members of the committee decided to listen to both the parties present in the meeting after which the meeting was filmed. However, the committee recommended dismissal of the PIA officer and sending him back to the Air Force for departmentalization.
