Pakistan, China want to create border dispute under the mission, India

"You are well aware of the situation arising along our northern and eastern borders," the Indian defense minister said in his virtual address.

He added that "first Pakistan and now China as well are trying to create a border dispute under a mission".

"We have a 7,000-kilometer border with countries where tensions remain," Rajnath Singh said.

NDTV reported that Rajnath Singh insisted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "visionary" leadership had succeeded in tackling border challenges and that "major and historic changes were taking place". ۔

Explaining the importance of bridges being built, Rajnath Singh said, "Our Armed Forces are deployed in large numbers in areas where transport is not available all year round."

"These roads are not only for strategic needs but also reflect the equal participation of all stakeholders in the development of the nation," he added.

It may be recalled that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently inaugurated a tunnel linking the disputed border with China to the Himalayas, which would give Indian troops much time to reach the border.

The tunnel will connect the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh with the border region of Ladakh, where tensions are high between the Indian military and China.

The ک 400 million 9km tunnel in the northern state will reduce the distance required for travelers to the Himalayan mountains by 50km and 4 hours.

Clashes between China and India on the disputed border in Ladakh escalated in June this year, killing more than 20 Indian soldiers, but China did not acknowledge the damage.

The two nuclear powers in the region have deployed thousands of additional troops and delivered weapons along the disputed border, while tensions have not yet subsided.

India's goal in building the tunnel in the disputed area is to deliver more troops and weapons than China.

Over the past six years, the Modi government has stepped up construction work in several border areas, including roads, bridges and other works.

The 3,500 km (2,175 miles) disputed and undefined border between India and China is called the Line of Actual Control and stretches from the Ladakh region in the north to the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh.
