Additional police personnel have been deployed in City Court Karachi in view of the expected appearance of Capt. (Retd) Safdar, the arrested husband of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz.
According to sources, the staff carrying the baton is stationed outside the court of Judicial Magistrate Sharqi while the staff of Bomb Disposal Squad has also reached the city court.
Bomb disposal staff said that the court would be screened, from the city court gate to the court way, while the court has been requested to screen the relevant court.
It may be mentioned that a case of desecration of Mazar-e-Quaid was registered against 200 persons including Captain (retd) Safdar on the complaint of citizen Waqas yesterday after which Captain (retd) Safdar was arrested by Sindh Police from a local hotel in Karachi this morning.
The case against Captain (retd) Safdar includes death threats, damage to government property, and a violation of the Mazar-e-Quaid Act.
On the other hand, PML-N leader and Maryam Nawaz's spokesman Muhammad Zubair said that Sindh Chief Minister said that pressure has been put on him for arrest. Murad Ali Shah said that the state is putting intense pressure on the police. Education Saeed Ghani says that Captain (R) Safdar was not arrested on the instructions of Sindh government.
