Police in Karachi have confirmed the arrest of PML-N leader Captain (retd) Safdar and said that a decision has not been taken to produce him in court today.
The investigating police brigade said in a statement that it was not yet known whether Captain (retd) Safdar, a non-league leader, would be produced in court today.
He said that he could not say anything about the place of transfer of Captain (retd) Safdar. Sources said that he has been kept in Aziz Bhatti police station.

Zeeshan Malik, Maryam Nawaz's political secretary, said that the Sindh government had not told us anything about the arrest of Captain (retd) Safdar.
The political secretary said that Captain (retd) Safdar has been arrested and kept in Aziz Bhatti police station and we have not been allowed to meet him.
It should be noted that Captain (retd) Safdar, husband of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz, has been arrested by the brigade police from a room of a local hotel.
Capt. (Retd) Safdar has been arrested in a case of violating the sanctity of Mazar-e-Quaid. A case has been registered against 200 people including him in the complaint of citizen Waqas.
The lawsuit against Safdar includes death threats, damage to government property, and a violation of the Mazar-e-Quaid Act.
On the other hand, on social networking site Twitter, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz said in her statement that the police broke down the door of my room in the hotel and arrested retired Captain Muhammad Safdar.
