Prime Minister Imran Khan, during a meeting with Facebook's Chief Operating Officer, welcomed and encouraged Facebook's investment plans in Pakistan. He acknowledged the immense potential of digital platforms like Facebook and the expected role of providing global opportunities to Pakistani youth and entrepreneurs on how their opportunities can lift people out of poverty.

The Prime Minister expressed concern over the rise of hatred and extremism globally and acknowledged the immense challenges of the fight against online hate speech. In a meeting between the two leaders, Pakistan called on Facebook in the field of education. Liaison investment and research grants were discussed.

Other topics include Facebook's blood donation product, which has been signed up by more than five million people since its launch in the country. The issue of Facebook's support for the government's goal of a polio-free Pakistan was also discussed.

Imran Khan and Miss Sandberg also discussed Facebook's "SheMeans Business Program" (#SheMeansBusiness), which trains 6700 women across Pakistan. In addition to Miss Sandberg, Facebook's Vice President for Nick Clegg, head of global affairs and communications, and Sarem Aziz, head of Facebook public policy in Pakistan, attended the meeting. Apart from them, Dr. Arsalan Khalid, Focal Person on Digital Media of Prime Minister Imran Khan was also present. Imran Khan and Miss Sandberg had earlier met in Davos, Switzerland in January.
